Drinking water is a crucial step when it comes to simply maintaining your health. From as simple as keeping you alert from day to day to improving your skin and even regulating your blood pressure, water is the ruler of all liquids when it comes to a proper health contributor. However, even though we know how important it is for us, it isn’t the easiest to consume the proper amount. Plain water can get boring and sometimes you feel like you’ve had all the water your stomach can hold! We are sharing some easy ways to get more water intake daily so that you feel hydrated and rejuvenated each day.
Added Flavor
If plain water bores you, tastes plain or simply repetitive, you can mix it up by throwing in some added flavor to your water. Throw in some fresh fruit like slices of strawberries, oranges or blueberries, or even some veggies like sliced cucumber. When you play around with new concoctions each day, you will lose that repetitiveness and won’t be bored of plain water anymore!
Bookend Your Day With Water
Life can get hectic and sometimes you don’t even think about taking a sip of water once throughout the day. It’s understandable for hydrating yourself to be a second thought, so why not make it your very first and last thought? Drink a couple cups of water as soon as you get up in the morning and end the day with a couple cups of water, bookending your days with some H2O.
Eat Your Water
When people think of water consumption, they probably only picture a glass of water. However, there are more ways to get some more water intake on the daily. By eating foods that contain a lot of water, you are given another opportunity to get the water intake you need. Food such as watermelon, cucumbers, tomatoes and zucchini all contain high amounts of water in them, perfect for helping you reach your daily goal.
Spice It Up
Introducing spicy meals to your day is a simple trick to consume more water each day. When you eat something hot or spicy, such as peppers, your instinct is to cool your mouth down with some cool water. It’s as simple as that!
Stay Active
Whether you are able to get in a full workout or not, staying active can be the key to getting in your daily water intake. By exercising, you will burn calories and want something to quench your thirst. Plus, you must make sure that you are staying hydrated in order to keep up with the day. If you are in an office or at your desk all day, make it a point to get up once each hour to take a loop around the office or house. Bring your water bottle with you and refill it each time you get up. This will keep you moving and your water supply on high.
Track Your Progress
There are plenty of ways to track your progress throughout the day, whether it’s a simple pen and paper or a much more tech savvy way, an app. There are apps that set reminders for you to drink your water and others that even make it like a game by having you keep a plant alive throughout the day. The more water you drink, the happier and healthier the plant is.
