Many tension headaches and migraines are caused due to dehydration, and water is the best solution for that. Staying hydrated is key to remedy a headache and preventing any from occurring. Many people may think that they only need to drink a lot of water if they work out or sweat, but it is a fact that you need to be drinking water at all times in the day, whether exercising or not. Your body needs enough fluids to help keep your motors running. With that, if you are dehydrated, your symptoms may even get worse, from ringing ears to that pounding head. If you have a headache, drink up! Matter of fact, keep a water bottle with you throughout the day to stay hydrated and avoid that headache altogether.

Sleep It Off

Getting the right amount of rest is crucial for your physical and mental health. Lack of sleep is prone to developing headaches and certainly don’t help when you already have one. You should aim to get seven to nine hours of sleep a night to ensure your body is well rested and ready for the day. Also, if you are able to, take a nap to sleep off that headache. Closing your eyes and hiding it from those bright lights, and resting your head on a pillow can do wonders to that throbbing head of yours.

Consider Your Diet

Whether we like it or not, we all have different reactions to food. Cheese, chocolate, citrus, and alcohol are all common foods that can trigger a headache. With that in mind, we advise you to consider your diet. Begin to eliminate a common food that you eat or drink when your headaches occur. As time goes by, eliminate another item until you hit that trigger spot. You may soon find that one ingredient that causes your recurring headaches and will be able to eliminate your recurring headaches altogether.

Yoga

Sometimes all you need is a little namaste in your life. Yoga is one amazing way to stretch your body, release stress, and strengthen your body from the inside out. A majority of headaches are caused from tension, which as a result, causes stress on your shoulders, neck, and scalp. Yoga helps relieve that tension and stress in your body and can help circulate that blood and oxygen to your head, relieving you of pain. So, grab a mat and get posing, because you could be on your way to a relaxing and headache-free day.

Magnesium

Magnesium is one of the best nutrients for you when you have or are trying to prevent a headache. It helps to maintain normal nerve and muscle function, supports a healthy immune system, and keeps your heart beating steadily. People with migraines tend to have lower levels of magnesium, which is why it is key to keep your levels up by way of diet. Nuts, kale, avocados, and greens are all foods loaded with magnesium. By adding in these foods to your diet, you can alleviate those headaches and enjoy a delicious and healthy meal all in one!
