Foods That’ll Give You Energy

January 26, 2021

Feeling exhausted or run down in the middle of the day can be one of the worst feelings, especially when you have an entire laundry list of things to get done. A lack of energy can cause you to be less productive and even cause you to be less alert, which can ultimately be harmful if you have a long drive home ahead of you. Fortunately, lack of energy can be temporary and even solved if you introduce the right foods into your diet. These eight foods are sure to give you energy throughout the day so that you can remain productive, alert and simply energetic.

Apples

A good source of carbs and fiber, apples are a fantastic snack to have in the middle of the day to boost your energy. Filled with natural sugar and carbs, this superfood will give you a nice steady dose of energy.

Avocados

Avocados provide a substantial amount of energy because they are digested slower due to their great amount of fiber and healthy fats. They can be applied to any meal or snack throughout the day and will easily fill you up.

Bananas

Bananas go towards the top of the list when it comes to food that provides energy. A health food staple, bananas are filled with vitamins and potassium, which will give you the energy you need to get through the day. They are perfect to have with breakfast or simply a midday snack.

Dark Chocolate

Now this is a snack that I can get behind! Of course, it is important to eat this in moderation, but dark chocolate is actually a great healthy snack that’ll give you a boost of energy. Aim for dark chocolate with a cacao content of 75% or more.

Goji Berries

Goji berries may seem like a secret food, but they have been used in Chinese medicine for centuries! This super fruit is packed with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, making it no guess as to why anyone would recommend this as a daily snack. Have them alone or add to a bowl of yogurt – you will undoubtedly feel that energy rise.

Greek Yogurt

Plain Greek yogurt is a great addition to add to your daily diet, especially when you need a little extra energy. Giving you calcium and protein, you will feel rejuvenated after having it midday—especially with some fresh berries on top!

Spinach

This little greenery packs a punch and will certainly give you a boost of energy when lacking. Rich in iron, spinach is a staple ingredient to a healthy diet. You can have spinach in a sandwich, as a salad or even throw it in a smoothie if you feel so inclined.

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet potatoes have easily become a healthy addition to many meals. What’s great is that you can cook them in a variety of ways so that they aren’t always the same. They can be baked as wedges, fries, cubes, smashed and more! Thanks to their high amount of fiber and carbs, your body digests them slowly, which provides you with a steady flow of energy to last throughout the day.
