How To Lose Belly Fat

September 9, 2020

The stomach is one of the biggest problem areas amongst men and women alike. While it may seem near impossible to get that tight and flat stomach, the truth is that it is possible but requires a lot of dedication to obtain that figure you desire. Most importantly, fat in your stomach is the most dangerous area to hold fat as it can lead to obesity, diabetes, liver and heart disease. So, it is best to take care of this area not only for your looks, but for your overall health. From what you eat and drink to how you exercise, these are the best ways to lose belly fat. As a reminder, everybody is shaped differently and has different speeds of metabolism which can make them lose weight faster or slower. Don’t fall victim to irrational diets and goals. This is your journey, so learn your body and see what methods work best for you.

Avoid Alcohol

Alcohol is a popular culprit to adding fat to the middle section. Beer, margaritas, or any mixed drink will go straight to the stomach. Plus, drinking alcohol is linked to increased chances of getting liver disease. By avoiding alcohol, or at least limiting your consumption, you will soon see a change in your waistline and contribute to a healthier body.

Cut the Carbs

While carbs like bread and chips are the most beloved snacks, they are also a large contribution to excess belly fat. Carbs cause blood sugar to rise, which in return causes insulin to rise. Glucose then goes into fat cells, which then turns into belly fat. If you cut the carbs, or simply lower your intake, you may see a difference very quickly. Try replacing refined carbs with whole grains and veggies in your next meal or snack.

Fiber

By adding fiber to your daily diet, you will be helping your body regulate and lose belly fat. Soluble fiber tends to make you feel fuller faster, so it will certainly help you slow down on your eating. It will also lower cholesterol levels and decrease the rise in blood sugar after high-carb meals. The best sources of fiber can be found in fruits and veggies, which are not only low in calories but also contain a great amount of vitamins and nutrients that your body needs daily.

H20

Drinking water throughout the day is not only optimal for staying hydrated, but will also help fight off extra hunger. When you start to feel hungry, the first thought may be to grab a snack. Instead, grab a glass of water and fill up on that H20. After drinking water, you may realize that you were not even hungry, instead just thirsty. Doing so, you will be saving your body from extra and unnecessary calories and giving it the hydration it needs.

Kick Up the Cardio

While doing sit-up after sit-up can help build your abdominal muscles, it won’t necessarily help you get rid of all the fat in your belly. Your abdominal muscles will develop, but will build right under those fat layers—maybe even making you appear larger than you are. In order to lose excess fat, especially in the belly, you will need to kick up the cardio. Since everyone is at different levels and capabilities, find out which form of cardio suits you best. Take a walk, go for a jog, hit the trails, dance it out, ride a bike, or try the rowing machine. Each of these exercises are forms of cardio and will help you get rid of that excess belly fat, all the while making your heart stronger.

No Sugary Drinks

Added sugar negatively affects your metabolic rate, thus slowing down your metabolism. When your metabolism slows down, fat is stored in your body for longer periods of time and can harmfully affect your health. Plus, the fructose found in added sugar turns into fat, leading to added weight around the stomach. Sugary sodas, juices, and sports drinks contain added sugar, which should be avoided when considering your health. If you are looking for a little flavor, try a glass of water with squeezed lemon or other fruits. Even an iced tea may do the trick.

Protein

If you are keeping focused on limiting carbs and sugar from your diet, your body certainly needs something to fill up on. Including protein in your daily dietary routine will help you build muscle and obtain the nutrients you need to stay healthy. By choosing high protein foods such as fish and lean meat, or even a snack of nuts or almonds, you can help your body grow strong and lean muscles. Plus, it can help your metabolic rate and decrease your appetite.
