Eight Signs That You Need To Detox

August 17, 2020

Our bodies do a great job eliminating toxins from within, but sometimes they just can’t keep up with the accumulation of toxins we intake from whatever we are eating, inhaling, or simply absorbing as we go through our day-to-day routine. Unfortunately, the toxins that our bodies have trouble eliminating tend to be stored in fat and our bones, leading to weight gain or sickness. If you have too many toxins taking over your body, it will react in various ways. Fortunately, there are signs to look out for that tell you a detox is needed to get rid of these bad toxins. Look out for these eight signs to see if you need to introduce a detox to your body.

Achy Joints

Joint pain, such as in your knees or hips, could be a sign of toxins in your body. Joint pain can be linked to inflammation in your body that could be caused by a stagnant lymphatic system. Your lymphatic fluid helps collect toxins and waste from around your body and carries them to your lymph nodes, which then break them down. When not working properly, the fluid doesn’t flow as easily and can cause stiffness in your joints. So if you don’t normally feel aches or stiffness in your joints, a detox may be your cure.

Brain Fog

The inability to remember things or simply focus is another sign to look out for. When your body isn’t eliminating toxins quickly enough, they increase inflammation and cause a buildup, preventing oxidation of the brain. When you introduce a detox, it will help you flush out all of those toxins causing a buildup and help relieve the stress of the brain.

Fatigue

A toxic overload may be the reason why you are constantly feeling fatigued, even when you are getting plenty of sleep. Excess amounts of toxins can lead to adrenal fatigue which can cause you to feel sleepy and exhausted. Listen to your body and if you are feeling more exhausted than you think you should, freeing yourself of those toxins may be your answer.

Headaches

If your toxicity levels are higher than normal, you may experience headaches. There are specific toxins that can affect your brain and lead to persistent headaches after you have consumed them. Food coloring, preservatives, and heavy metals are all linked to the toxins that can create headaches. Introducing a detox may be your answer to starting fresh and getting rid of the headaches.

Insomnia

Your body releases cortisol to relieve stress. For healthy individuals, cortisol is generally released at night, by starting high in the morning and dropping progressively throughout the day. If there is an imbalance in cortisol, your levels in the nighttime become heightened, making you more alert and active in the night rather than in the morning. This heightened alertness at night creates insomnia, which could then trigger further issues such as heart disease. A detox is a great way to get your cortisol levels regular again and catch some more Z’s.

Mood Swings

Mood swings can be caused by hormonal imbalances in your body, which can affect both genders. Health problems linked to hormonal imbalances are linked to chronic inflammation due to a poor diet and toxins within your body. A detox will help get your levels balanced and set you off on the right track.

Skin Complications

If you begin to experience breakouts, rashes, dry skin, or itchiness, you may have built up too many toxins in your body. Your skin is one of the first things to reveal if something is wrong with your body, so pay close attention to any differences in your skin. Plus, your skin reacts quickly to healthy eating, so a detox will rid you of toxins from unhealthy foods you may have been consuming.

Weight Gain

Weight gain and struggling to lose weight is a big sign that you need to introduce a detox. When toxins collect in your body, bad bacteria is taking over and leads to inflammation and a slower metabolism. To flush out that bad bacteria and introduce new, good bacteria, a detox or cleanse may be your first step to getting on track to your weight loss.
