Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 2 pounds moderate-starch potatoes, thinly sliced (Russet or Yukon Gold)
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped yellow onion
  • 3 teaspoons GARLIC GODDESS BLEND ADD TO CART or 3 cloves fresh garlic, minced
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons SOULFUL SEASONING SALT ADD TO CART
  • 1 teaspoon SASSY SEASONING BLEND ADD TO CART
  • 1/4 teaspoon SPICY PEPPER BLEND (optional) ADD TO CART
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyere cheese
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 2-quart casserole dish.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until soft and translucent, about 5–6 minutes. Stir in the Garlic Goddess Blend (or fresh garlic) and cook 1 more minute.
  3. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk constantly for 1–2 minutes until smooth. Slowly pour in the milk and cream while whisking to prevent lumps. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens slightly.
  4. Stir in Soulful Seasoning Salt, Sassy Seasoning Blend, and Spicy Pepper Blend if using. Add cheddar, Gruyere, and half of the Parmesan. Stir until melted and smooth.
  5. Add the sliced potatoes and fold gently until evenly coated. Transfer to the baking dish and sprinkle with the remaining Parmesan.
  6. Cover with foil and bake about 1 hour, until potatoes are tender. Uncover and bake another 15–20 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving. Taste and adjust your Laila Ali Spice Blends as needed. Garnish with chopped parsley, if desired.
