The youngest daughter among the great Muhammad Ali’s nine children, tall and gorgeous Laila Ali is hosting a new TV series this summer and is about to deliver her first child.
“The baby is due in September, and I’m feeling great,” she told me. “It’s been a very easy pregnancy.” Her husband, former NFL wide receiver Curtis Conway, has three children from an earlier marriage. Are the siblings excited or resentful? “They can’t wait to have a little brother,” she said.
When we spoke, Laila was in the midst of chaos at home in the L.A. hills. “There’s trouble with the phones, construction is going on in the house, and they’re doing the pool,” she said, as cool amid the din as the legendary Ali was in the ring.
Does everyone pester her with questions about her father? “Listen,” she said, “everyone from Nelson Mandela to Bill Clinton loves Ali. He is the ultimate people person.”
